Horsham Dental Bridges
Bridges are used to fill space created by the loss of teeth. The two types are conventional bridges and resin bonded bridges.
A traditional bridge is usually made of porcelain or ceramic that is fused to metal. These are made to be strong enough to replace molars. To place the dental crowns on your adjacent teeth, your dentist will first need to remove some of your enamel.
This bridgework is generally the most popular choice. It differs from resin retained bridgework as it takes more time and involves ‘crowning’ several teeth.
- Conventional Bridges – Conventional bridges are used when your natural teeth surround a missing tooth or gap on both sides, consisting of one or more pontic teeth that are held in place by two abutment teeth. “Abutment teeth” are natural teeth that support the 'pontic' fake teeth between them.
-
Resin Bonded Bridges - Resin bonded bridges involve minimal drilling, making them a non-invasive option. With this treatment, a wing is bonded to the back of supporting teeth.
Both provide a lab-made restoration that adheres to the prepared tooth, special cement filling the spaces where teeth once were.
